This Kreutzer Tri-motor was part of the Gathering of Tri-motors at last year's AirVenture Oshkosh. This ship was manufactured by the Joeseph Kreutzer Corporation of Los Angeles, in 1928. It was America's first light multi-engine aircraft and is powered by three Kinner K-5 engines of 100 h.p. NC-612 has an interesting past. Serving as an airliner for Navajo Airways, this original livery is that of Navajo, a feeder line for TAT, hence the TAT paint scheme (similar livery is still the standard for feeders and their larger partner lines today). NC-612 also smuggled liquor in the depression and was based in Mexico as XB-AHO flying gold and supplies to the mines of centeral Mexico. Before WWII it is said to have been used to spy on the U.S., flown by it's then German/Mexican owner. The Kreutzer is now part of Greg Herrick's vintage aircraft collection and is based in Minneapolis.
